Comprehensive Eye Exam
Routine eye exams are important for maintaining eye health and vision and are an important part of preventative healthcare. Many eye and vision problems have no signs or symptoms. As a result, early diagnosis and treatment of eye and vision problems can help prevent vision loss. During a comprehensive eye exam, simple refractive errors as well as serious eye problems and diseases can be detected and diagnosed, such as diabetes and high blood pressure, etc. All of our exams are conducted with digital, state of the art equipment to provide accurate results and enhance your experience.
Children should have yearly examinations to ensure that their vision is normal and to lower the chances of complications that may occur in the future. Older adults are at a higher risk for eye conditions such as glaucoma. macular degeneration, and cataracts and as such, should also be examined yearly. Contact Lens Health Assessment
The health assessment we offer for contact lens wearers includes special tests that are not performed during routine eye exams for eyeglasses. During this assessment, we take specific measurements to determine what the best contact lens size and design is for your eyes, and provide diagnostic lenses, follow-up visits to confirm the fit and safety of the lens, and finally, your contact lens prescription. There is an additional fee that is added to the comprehensive exam for those who are interested; please contact us for further inquiries.
Additional Testing
We use state of the art technology to perform additional testing that help in detecting and diagnosing eye conditions. These tests may or may not be covered under your insurance.
Fundus Imaging
Retinal images are an essential part of your annual comprehensive eye exam. The scan becomes a permanent part of your medical record and is useful for early detection of retinal problems such as:
Macular degeneration
Glaucoma
Hypertension
Diabetes
The images can be captured during the pre-test work up and later reviewed by the doctor during your examination.
Optical Coherence Tomography (OCT)
This test is a form of retinal imaging. Since it uses light waves to build a picture, it is a non-invasive method to see various layers of the retina on the cellular level. Additionally, it allows for diagnosis and treatment guidance for glaucoma and various diseases of the retina such as macular degeneration and diabetic eye disease.
Visual Field
This is a subjective examination that can be used to detect dysfunction in the central and peripheral vision. These dysfunctions may be caused by various medical conditions such as glaucoma, stroke, and other neurological deficits.
Myopia Control
This is a treatment to help slow down the progression of myopia in children. Your child will be screened and we will provide you with our recommendations. Treatment options include Essilor Stellest spectical lenses, Ortho-K, and MiSight lenses.
